Alex Counts spent the first ten years of his career working in microfinance and poverty reduction, training under Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus while living in rural Bangladesh. In 1997, Counts established the Grameen Foundation with the support Yunus and became its President and CEO. He ran the organization for its first 18 years, and remains a friend and volunteer of the Grameen Foundation. Today, Counts runs an independent consultancy for nonprofit organizations, is an adjunct professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), is the Executive Director of the India Philanthropy Alliance, and has authored multiple books. Counts will share insights from his time working with Muhammad Yunus, including his extensive career in microfinance and poverty reduction.
