Principles Programs
For Elliott School Students Requiring a Full Introductory Course
Students required by the Elliott School Admissions Office to take a complete introductory course in economics (either a combined micro/macro course or a separate micro or a separate macro course) before matriculating in the Elliott School may use one of the programs below to satisfy their prerequisites upon satisfactory completion of the work. Students do not receive academic credit for these programs.
These courses include pre-recorded lectures, weekly online office hours, weekly graded homework, and quizzes. Topics covered in microeconomics can be found here and here for macroeconomics. The recommended textbook is Greg Mankiw’s Principles of Economics (older editions will suffice).
Students who have taken economics in the past normally would not take these full programs. They should take the assessment exam available here and then consider participating in the self-guided and self-paced online review programs available here.
Micro- and Macroeconomics (Combined)
An online combined micro- and macroeconomics principles program will start on May 31st and will end by August 18th. Successful completion of this program will satisfy Elliott School minimum economics prerequisites for students who have no introductory economics background.
