The US and China are the world’s leading producers and exporters of AI, but they don’t engage constructively on AI governance.  In this webinar, two experts on AI in China, Alvin Wang Graylin and Paul Triolo, will engage in a moderated discussion about America’s approach to China on AI. Triolo will question Graylin on what’s working and what’s now; the rationale for America’s current approach; China’s approach to AI governance and trust; China’s approach to marketing its AI overseas; and how to incentivize greater cooperation.

  • Speaker: Alvin Wang Graylin  (汪丛青) is a Senior Fellow on Technology at the Asia Society Policy Institute’s Center for China Analysis, a Digital Fellow at Stanford’s Institute for Human-Centered AI, and a lecturer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is also Chair of the Virtual World Society and co-author of Our Next Reality.
  • Discussant: Paul Tirolo is a Partner  at the Albright Stonebridge Group, and a leading expert on AI and on China.  He writes the widely influential substack AIStack Decrypted and an annual report on AI developments.

As always, the webinar will begin with a moderated discussion and the last half hour the two speakers will address participant questions typewritten into the Q and A.

Moderator: Dr. Susan Aaronson, Founder and Director, Digital Trade and Data Governance Hub, co-PI, Governance, NSF-NIST Trustworthy AI Institute for Law and Society
