Intermediate Theory Programs

IIEP Online Intermediate Micro- and Macroeconomic Theory Programs

The Institute for International Economic Policy (IIEP) offers online economics theory programs designed especially for students taking courses that require intermediate level micro- and macroeconomic theory. These would be very useful background, for example, for Econ 6283 (Survey of International Trade and Policy) and Econ 6284 (Survey of International Macroeconomics Theory and Policy).

These programs can also be used to satisfy the intermediate theory proficiency requirements for the Elliott School’s MA in International Economic Policy program.

The “full” programs below will have pre-recorded lectures, graded problem sets, graded quizzes, online office hours, and a final exam.  All material and assignments will be available online, with the exception of the final exam, which will be hold on August 22ndon the George Washington University campus.  (An analogous set of “review” programs that are completely self-paced is described below.)

Combined Intermediate Micro- and Macroeconomic Theory (full program).

Students may sign up simultaneously for both the micro- and macroeconomic theory programs described in detail below.  The combined program costs $600.

Student reviews:

“Without question, the lessons and material prepared me for international economics…I would certainly recommend to all future Elliott Students.”

“Overall the program was very well done… I was able to easily adapt the course to my schedule and encountered no issues with taking the course while in China.”

“The program was easy to access, helpful in learning the material, and most convenient for incoming Elliott students. I liked the videos because I could pause and replay certain sections that I had trouble understanding.”
